Makerbot controller on Sherline mill
Hello,
I am interested in the Makerbot. I have a Sherline model 5000 vertical mill. It does not have CNC. Rather than buy a full Makerbot kit, or a full Sherline CNC kit I'm thinking of adding the Makerbot control system to my mill. I figure it would cost me $500 to outfit it with the motors required to move the axes. I'm sure I can mount the plastruder on it. The question is, can I use the Makerbot control system to drive the stepper motors? This would be for both the plastruder and for regular milling. Any links to detailed references for how such a thing would be done would be great.
