I was just over half way through a 1.75 hour print, when the extruder motor stopped extruding. I dont' know if it was a glitch in the gcode, or if it was one of the typical motor choking problems I've had, but …. I caught it 1 layer after it happened so - I stopped it - reset the machine through replicatorG, then edited the g-code removing everything up to the layer that quit…. except for the warm-up command.
Well it's back up and printing. I ended up with the temp 5 deg higher than my usual build temp, but it's going along just fine.
oh - to find the Z-height I was at, I used the 2D build simulation - it tells you pretty much where you're at anyway - so… you can tell. Also, since I stopped, actually the control panel showed the current z-height. As long as you don't turn the z-height manually, you can pick up where you left off.
It would be REALLY great if you could jog through the g-code, and have a control panel to alter things like temp, motor speed, etc… like on REAL cnc machines :D…
how could would it be if you could pause, skip layers, go back and re-print from an earlier layer… play the machine BACKWARDS without extruding just to the point where it's supposed to pick back up… that'd be SO cool… and NOT THAT hard… if someone had the time that is.
and here it is —- almost done (80%… 30% after fixing the mid-build-crash.)
