My Mk4 Plastruder is not heating up nor is the LED lighting to indicate that it is trying (LED6 [B-/+]). Was working fine an hour ago and now (after a rest) is not working. This entire Makerbot is only about a month old (#1862 Batch 15) and I really haven't been building a lot (still getting it dialed in just right). I do get temperature readings and the filament motor will run, but no power to heat up the head.
This is what I've already tried:
- Reset and reflashed to latest firmware (extruder 2.3 and MB 2.2)= No change
- Reset ReplicatorG profile = No change
- Tested for shorts = No shorts
- Tested heater wire for breaks = Reads 6.4 ohm (Same as when built)
- Changed Ethernet cable = No luck
- Moved to a different RS485 port = No change
- Took out the heater wires and did a quick on/off test = LED6 light lit, but was not bright
- Put wires back in B+/- = Same problem
- Reset MB to factory defaults = No change
- Went a little crazy = Post on forums for help …
- Turned it on again after typing this just to see if it started working = NOPE!
I've been fighting another issue with my X stage drifting to the right when printing larger prints but I never touched the extruder settings for this. Just been tweaking the X stage pot, lubing the rods, and eliminating all interference. The last thing I tried was twisting the stepper interface cables from the MB but that shouldn't have anything to do with the extruder board, right? Right after twisting the Y stage cable, plugging it back in (in the correct spot), and then turning on the 'Bot to begin another test, no more heat! Never even had any problems with the extruder except for some initial PID issues (not holding temp nor heating up correctly so the build would never start). I ultimately set those to P 7.0, I 0.34765625, & D 36.0; then didn't have any more issues. In fact the extruder has been working perfectly! I guess too perfectly…
Any ideas or suggestions?
