Can anyone please provide me with solidworks files (.sldpt I think) for all of the lasercut parts that a makerbot uses? I have a lot of ideas relating to modifying the case to make taller prints, making more parts of the bot printable, etc and I will need those files to do that. :)
I've never seen solidworks versions around, just the DXF's since it's all laser cut:
I found them, they are in sketchup. The guy simply imported the dxf's and tada.
The main reason I wanted these files was so I could make the thing fully printable and to design a printable box that screws on to the makerbot that can contain the components of a useless desktop computer (You know the one that you bought two months ago that is now obsolete) allowing you to design and print things anywhere you have power (initiate evil laugh now!).
PS: I would apperciate it if someone can tell me how I can import the dxf files into solidworks.
How about the version made by WRIGHT1?

its in EASM, so solidwoks should be able to handle it. My problem is that i only have an outdated SW license (2007), so i can not open it without getting error messages.
there is already a fully printable version (all sliced up to fit on the build platform) on thingiverse, i just made one last week.
I have looked at both files and have found problems relating to both of them.
1. The solidworks file is actually a completely assembled model. That being the case, it will not serve my needs.
2. The second file is helpful, but I saw a problem in how you assemble it (I.e. it is easy to misalign parts). I planed to fix this by adding dovetail like hooks to fit them together correctly.
I will try to directly import the dxf files into my version of solidworks and see if it works (I have the newest liscense). All I should have to do is import the file, extrude it to the correct thickness (5mm I think) and chop it up to fit the normal build platform. I will post later if I can get this to work. :)
