Since I have non-functioning motor, I figured I would take it apart with the wildly optimistic idea that I could rebuild it.
The easy part is opening up the gearing.

At the same time, I don't think there's anything wrong here.
The other side of the motor is a bit more difficult. Here's the casing, plastic back and brushes.

This is not easy access and I pretty much mangled the brush cap taking it apart. Maybe someone with a little more mechanical prowess might have had better luck. Worse, I snapped off one of the brushes in the process. Here's the missing brush under a magnifier.

Honestly, it might be possible to solder the brush back in place and mash everything back together in a way that the motor functions, but I doubt it.
Here's the electric motor itself.

Considering this is a $20 part, I don't think it's really meant to be rebuilt although I suspect some of you folks with more skill than what exists in my shaky hands might pull it off.
