That is precisely what happened. I disconnected the ABP while connected to RepG. Great feature!

I did try to connect and reconnect several times but the problem only went away after restarting RepG. It saved me a lot of time opening the TOM dungeon. :P

You are now understanding the inter workings of the whole system.

I mean we only have 3 different processors trying to talk to each other on serial connections. You've got the extruder controller and it's firmware and bugs, talking across an RS 485 serial bus to the Motherboard Arduino Mega, talking through a FTDI to serial connection chip and then the USB UART and finally your computer's CPU and finally the application thread that is replicator-g. It ONLY works when all are started in a certain state. Disrupting anything is likely to net you a non-functioning system unless you restart both the bot and replicator-g. Sorry, that's just how it is.

I am just amazed that it works 99% of the time. :)

My TOM is a thing of beauty (as are all other TOM, Cupcakes, Mendels, Prusas and etc…) in so many levels that I have to pinch myself every once in a while. You put all the elements together (the maker community with forums and thingiverse with continuous open source innovation) and you have an a virtuous circle if I ever saw one.
