@Carmiac: Oh… cool. Well, not cool that you have the issue too, but I am glad I am not alone. Hey, I was wondering if there are any similarities between your machine and my machine. I don't think this happens to everyone, obviously, because we would hear more about it. Are you running Pololu's?

I have not tried printing. I was worried my Z would flip out or something and drive itself into my build platform or kill me some how.

EDIT: I print fine too! That's good.

My XYZ axes are stock electronics and motors, though my X axis only does 1/8 microstepping instead of 1/16. My extruder is running a pololu, driving a geared stepper at 1/8 microstepping. I don't think this has much to do with that, I think this is entirely due to something in RepG control panel sending out kinda random moves instead of what is sent. It almost seems like an overflow issue.

OIC, I was thinking maybe it had something to do with the Pololu's having double the steps per mm. And for some reason, some math was screwed up in the new RepG control panel. Just trying to figure it out, better to leave it to the developers I suppose.

BTW, MakerBot stepper drivers are only capable of 1/8th microstepping. So you are at 1/4th on your X axis? You should probably get a replacement. These Pololu's are pretty sweet.

Ah yes, I'm at 1/4.

I figure I'll move over to Pololus when/if these drivers give up, but for now they've been working just fine since I adjusted the REF pot to something sane.

Perhaps you have the wrong driver selected?

My experience so far has been, under normal operation this isn't really an issue I would say. I have never had it happen to me personally tho. I have been using repg25 since beta 1 as well so I have a decent amount of exposure to it. But again I also use continuous jog pretty much all the time.

What is this continuous jog you speak of?

I've always used the arrows. But like I said normally, I wouldn't click like crazy like that. I am just really inexperienced at videos and I get nervous and do stupid stuff. Not that this is so horrible for the bot. All it is does is queue up the commands. It is bad to have the platform bash into things, and that wouldn't have happened under normal circumstances. Regardless, the issue still happens no matter how fast you click the mouse. I have now taken down the video because I am embarassed, it reminded me of someone who is really inexperienced at computers, double clicking a million times when something doesn't open. Or one of those "Enter Key SMASHERS." Oh well. I am sure the bug will be fixed, so the video is not important.

But, I am still very curious? How do you use continuous jog? I don't recall seeing any where to set something like that, without making your own custom gcode. I can't open control panel right now, because I am in the middle of a print. Is this new as of RepG 25?

Nevermind I found it. I forgot I started from the interface, so I could get into control panel. Unfortunately, when I clicked the jog mode down arrow, and found "continuous" above .01 mm…. the act of clicking on it actually stopped my print! :[

Oh well, that will teach me for poking around during a print. At least I wasn't very far into it.

But this is really cool and the issue doesn't happen when using continuous jog. Of course it is still a problem, because I will still use the incremental for my leveling technique.

I basically turn my aluminum plate and Z platform (by hooking up a looped piece of copper to it) into a circuit using a AA battery and my multimeter. Then I bring it to center, increment my way down until the circuit is created. Set control panel to 0. Then I go to every corner and middle of each side and adjust the bolts until they all create circuit at 0.

Yeah this is basically what I have been doing since day one and its worked a treat.
