I own a TOM with a MK6 using the old hot end kit and a Mk1 spindle kit. I've probably used about 5 lbs of natural abs before the above issue arose. It only started until recently. Basically, the TOM will print as it normally would. However, after about 15 mins to 30 mins into the print, the head would not extrude any more filament. I've checked the following:
-temperature is consistent at about 230 degrees.
-the stepper motor was turning
-the delrin plunger and knob was pushing the filament properly
-the spindle did not appear to have any snags
I've taken stepper motor from the assembly to determine if the filament wheel was not properly gripping the stepper shaft. Apparently, the set screw was firmly screwed in but the wheel appears to be locked in. The distance beween the stepper base and the shaft is fine. I tightened everything together but I seemed to be getting the same extrusion issue. The only thing that I noticed is that there are fine particles of ABS within the extrusion path as the filament gets into the heated chamber. It gets trapped there as well as wheel such that I think it affects the friction between the wheel and the plunger. As a result, I use compressed air to blow those particles away. I get the same problem after doing that, however. This never was a problem until using the TOM for a while now.
Any suggestions?
