Thingomatic # 4401- Ready to close electronics bay and cannot reach driver board. This board is located on the opposite side, in the electronics bay. Kit has Mk6 stepper.? Add cable?
What cable and driver exactly are you talking about?
The extruder stepper motor cable does not reach the A-axis stepper driver board.
Ah hrm I might call MBI about that. I know judging by my cable length that it would not reach either based on the position they want you to put it in. Have you tried swapping it to a different position? I can't really help much more then that as my electronics bay is all custom and I did not lay it out like they show in the wiki.
Thanks for the reply. Yes, my stepper cable lacks about 5 or 6 inches from reaching the driver board. If I were to swap with the x axis board the same issue would occur for x?
Could the other Mk6 stepper motors prior to this kit-(around May ti
e frame) had longer stepper motor cables?
No, it will work, your just not being creative enough. You don't need to run it through the top of the bot. Notice on my tall T-O-M which is 50mm taller than a normal T-O-M I can still use the stock motor and cable with not extension required. The cable goes down the front of the bot in the left corner. One tip to give more room is to mount the stepper drivers on the bottom plate flipped upside down. This makes 3 stepper positions on the front of the bot and 2 in the back. The back two are for x and z, the front two are for A (extruder) and Y. There is more than enough length on the steppers to work that way. Notice my "A" stepper driver is in the front left corner in the photo and the wire goes up the front . It will still work even if you didn't "flip" the bottom plate and the driver is more in the middle on the front. Again, My bot is taller than stock so I know you can get it to work.

Thanks jetguy, I see that thinking outside the box(no pun intended) helps out. Being a purist and following MbI 's info only goes so far. Thanks for the photo , and nice bot.
