I recently re-printed a second copy of Starno's bottle opener for a friend, from the same s3g file as the first. When I put the two next to each other, here is what I saw:
The imperfections on the top layer are pretty much identical.
I have to admit that, altho I hadn't really thought about it one way or another, it came as a surprise. On further thought, however, I took it as a good sign. I think it means that the defects have more to do with my printing profile settings, and how Skeinforge slices the model, than any inherent problems with the bot itself.
After all, if the defects were different, it would mean I was at the limit of what the bot can do, no?
PS: I recognize the possibility that the bot's mechanics are contributing to the defects, but since they are repeatable, I maintain that they can be improved with a better s3g file, and so either way, I look forward to improving my profile settings and getting even better prints. :-)
