X axis problem

I've been having this problem with the x-axis on my TOM lately. At the start of the build TOM begins its homing sequence. Y axis goes all the way to the back. Z axis goes to the top. X goes all the way to the right. All endstops are triggered. Apparently, x axis stays at the endstop. A grinding noise is heard. The y axis does not move as well. After about 30 seconds z axis goes to maximum.

I've replaced the endstop cable on the x-axis since one of the wires came off.

I'm running replicator g v.24 on a mac pro.

Sounds like you might have put the cable back in the wrong place. When the end-stop is triggered but the motor tries to keep going you may have X max instead of X min (or the other way around).
Try this:
Move the platform to the center (by hand). Trigger the X stop with your finger. Then in the control panel try to move the X axis. If the platform only wants to go towards the right (where the stop is) and not towards the left you know the cable is in the wrong place on the board.

thanks, i'll try that. here's another clue:

i forgot to mention that it homed in ok before the endstop cable was broken. however this condition got prgogressively worse when it broke. having replaced the cable the condition still occurs.
