So I came across some cool ideas but I would have to run to motors on one driver, and I was wondering if anyone had any ideas. I don't really feel like killing a driver just for testing. So any input would help greatly. I would be using two maker-bot standard motors (at .68 amps I believe). They will both be doing the same thing just on opposite sides. Thanks for any input.

Two steppers in parallel work just fine. That is the setup used in a Mendel Prusa for the Z axis. They will just use twice as much Amps as a single one which should be OK.

DO NOT EVER DISCONNECT THE STEPPERS FROM THE BOARD WHILE THEY ARE POWERED.

Power off every time you connect and disconnect anything.

You can also get them to go in opposite directions (at the same speed though) by flipping the connector of one of them around. :)

Other interesting fact is that if they are connected and unpowered, turning the axis of one of them will make the other stepper rotate - the first one is generating power that is moving the second one. :))
