I'm trying to figure out what the hourly cost of running a Thing-o-Matic is. I'll list the formulae and then fill in the variables with ballpark figures.
total hourly cost = energy cost + material cost + wear and tear
energy cost = electricity cost per kWh * (computer kW + printer kW)
material cost = cost of spool * mass extruded per hour / mass of spool
wear and tear = cost of printer / life expectancy in hours
cost of item = sticker price + shipping + assembly and other related costs
total hourly cost = $0.95 + material cost
energy cost = $0.20 / h = $0.20 / kWh * (500 watts + 500 watts)
material cost = $50.00 * mass extruded per hour / 1000 g
wear and tear = $0.75 / h = $1,500.00 / 2,000 hours
My two questions are, A) how many grams does a MK7 extruder per hour, and B) are there any obvious errors in the other ballpark figures?
