Maybe, but more likely they will have some older stock for a while. Same thing happened with gen3. I doubt the new control system is any cheaper. We went from $200 electronics (gen3) to $370 electronics (gen4), and now this is likely to be even more expensive. Considering RAMPS is the same thing (5 axis micro stepping) for LESS than $200, not exactly impressed these days with MakerBot. I mean it's nothing more than an Arduino and $13 each stepper drivers. Go further and get into my other hobby quadcopters and DIY drones sells the APM 1.0 which is a MEGA 2560 and a 328 on the same board ($65) for less than the cost of a bare gen4 motherboard which requires a mega??? Honestly, how does that work?

The APM board is surely as complicated if not more so, it's not like the RS 485 chips ($0.88 each) and the MAX6675 ($11) on the Gen4 motherboard and extruder board are breaking the bank. Further, any decent MOSFET will do at less than $2 each on the extruder board. That means theoretically we are talking less than $100 for a board that is ready to drop $13 4988s into an be done (oh wait, that's the same price as ramps)???

Just saying there are options.
